Aspen Lakes Golf Course

Every once in a while, a piece of land comes along with enough natural beauty and interesting lines to challenge a golf course designer to rise to the occasion. Aspen Lakes provided just such a challenge, and William Overdorf, of Lynden, WA, met it head on. The result is a golf course that compliments what God created without feeling contrived. If a natural feature fit better than one that was designed, then the plans changed; it was just that simple.

Ego has not been a factor in the layout of this championship course. You are more likely to find Overdorf in the seat of a shaping dozer putting the finishing touches on a bunker to make sure it “feels just right” than surrounded by an entourage. Mr. Overdorf is a humble man who says he was lucky to work with such a “nice piece of dirt”, but the reality is that his Aspen Lakes design has resulted in a course that blends like a water color.

Located just outside of Sisters, Aspen Lakes has all of the ingredients that golfers look for in a great course, including spectacular views and a memorable and unique design. This W.L. Overdorf design was chosen by Golf Digest Magazine as one of “America’s 10 Best New Affordable Courses”. Aspen Lakes has been showing up on “Best of...” lists put out by Golfweek, Golf Digest, Brainstorm NW, Inside Golf, Travel NW Magazine to name a few.

With some of the finest bent grass playing surfaces carpeting tee to green, Aspen Lakes can stretch out to 7302 yards, challenging even the longest hitters. Lakes and streams come into play on over half of the holes as you work your way through the Ponderosa pines.

Aspen Lakes features red sand bunkers that create a visually striking contrast against the green of the course, the brilliant blue of the sky and the snow-capped peaks that stand guard. Wildlife is abundant as Aspen Lakes was the first course in Oregon to enroll in the Audubon Signature Sanctuary Program.

Beautifully planned in a natural 560 acre site, Aspen Lakes offers a limited number of homesites averaging approximately one acre in size. Homeowners enjoy a sense of community without sacrificing privacy. With views of the Cascade peaks and secluded from the hustle and bustle of the city, residents still have easy access to Bend, Redmond, and Sisters whenever they want. The fourth and final phase of homesites is currently available.

“So stunning is the course, it is host of the Oregon Open this year.”
Desert Golf Magazine, April/May 2005

“Call Aspen Lakes the Mona Lisa of Central Oregon golf. It isn’t a ‘classic’ beauty like Pebble Beach or Augusta, yet its allure is as timeless as the famous smile on DaVinci’s masterpiece.”
Fairways & Greens, June 2003

“Wow! What a course. Golf as it should be. This is a must play.”
